Tabby (“we”, “us”) is an expense-splitting app for iPhone (and later Android). This policy describes what we collect, why, and how you can delete it. Tabby is a ledger — it does not move money, sell your data, or show ads.
Who is responsible
Tabby is operated by Carlos Natera. Questions: naterac@gmail.com. More contact options: Support.
What we collect
- Account. Email and display name. Sign-in may use email and password, Sign in with Apple, or Google. Authentication is handled by Supabase (our cloud provider).
- Profile and group photos you choose (avatar, group cover). Stored in Supabase Storage.
- Expenses and groups. Group names, members, amounts, currencies, who paid, how a bill was split, notes, settlements, trip dates, and reactions. This is the ledger you and your group see.
- Families. Household name, member names, roles, optional child birth dates (to keep age-based split weights correct), and optional custom weights.
- Invites. Invite codes and, if you send an email invite, the invitee’s email.
- Device identifiers needed to keep you signed in and sync the same account across devices. We do not use advertising IDs or track you across other companies’ apps.
What we do not collect
We do not take payment-card numbers, bank logins, or precise location. We do not sell personal data. We do not use your information for third-party advertising. Currency conversion uses public ECB rates (Frankfurter); that request does not include your name or expenses.
Why we use it
Only to run Tabby: create your account, sync groups across phones, show balances, and let people you invite join. Photos are only for avatars and covers you set. Birth dates are only used to pick a child’s default split weight.
Who can see your data
People in a group can see that group’s members, expenses, and linked family details needed for splits (names, ages/weights). They cannot see your password or groups they are not in. Supabase hosts the database and file storage under our project. We do not sell access to other advertisers.
How long we keep it
Account and ledger data stay until you delete the account or we are legally required to keep a subset. Local copies also live on your phone so the app works offline; signing out or deleting the account wipes that copy on the device.
Delete your account
In the app: Me → Delete account (shipping with the store release). That removes your login and personal profile. Expenses you already added to a shared group stay in that group’s history so other members’ balances stay correct — your name may remain as the person who paid or was owed. You can also email naterac@gmail.com and we will complete deletion if you cannot use the in-app control.
Children
Tabby is for adults who manage household or trip expenses. You may add children as family guests (name and optional birth date) so splits can use age weights. Those guests do not get their own Tabby accounts.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the date above. Continued use of Tabby after an update means you accept the revised policy.
